Lemonade seeks an Accounting Manager to own the parent company accounting for Lemonade Inc., Agency, and Life Agency. You will drive accuracy, efficiency, and transparency across the financial ecosystem while partnering with the Controller and Director of Technical Accounting on SEC reporting and audits.

You will oversee a high-ownership close, intercompany activities, lease accounting, and SOX procedures, with a focus on data-driven insights and cross-functional collaboration in NYC.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in accounting with multi-entity close ownership.
• Strong command of U.S. GAAP and ASC 842 knowledge.
• Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Experience with Workday ERP is a plus.

What You’re Applying For

We're looking for an Accounting Manager to take ownership of Lemonade's parent company accounting operations and help drive greater efficiency, accuracy, and transparency across our financial ecosystem. You'll sit within our Finance team, leading the month-end close process, managing a broad range of financial schedules, and acting as a key partner to our Controller and Director of Technical Accounting on SEC reporting and audit deliverables. This is a high-ownership role that touches nearly every corner of the business — from intercompany transactions to share-based compensation to lease accounting.

In this role you'll

• Lead the month-end close process for Lemonade Inc., Agency, and Life Agency — including P&L analytics, vendor breakdown reviews, and detailed expense reviews across entities
• Manage all parent company accrual schedules, including contract and vendor accruals, professional and legal fee schedules, and underwriting expenses
• Own share-based compensation accounting in partnership with Fidelity — preparing entries for all subsidiaries, footnote disclosures, and recording of stock option exercises
• Oversee intercompany relationships, settlement of transactions, translation true-ups, and cost-plus relationship recording
• Manage ASC 842 lease schedules in Trullion, prepare monthly entries, and support lease disclosure preparation
• Lead the organization and delivery of year-end and quarterly audit procedures, and support annual SOX testing
• Support the Controller and Director of Technical Accounting in quarterly SEC financial reporting — including financial reporting packages, footnote and disclosure preparation, and audit review support
• Act as Finance-level AP approver for the vast majority of invoices, ensuring accuracy and appropriate tagging before escalation to cost center managers
• Run monthly allocations, prepare allocation review schedules, reperform occupancy calculations, and support monthly GAAP ULAE entries
• Partner cross-functionally with Business Development, Offline Media, Production, and Growth Development on financial operations including invoices, accruals, and processing

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience in public or private accounting, with demonstrated ownership of complex, multi-entity close processes
• Strong command of U.S. GAAP, including working knowledge of ASC 842, share-based compensation, intercompany accounting, and SEC reporting requirements
• Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills
• Experience with Workday ERP is a plus
• Comfortable operating across multiple entities and legal structures simultaneously
• Sharp attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines without dropping the ball
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Ability to work in our Soho, NYC office 3 days per week

Lemonade's US base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000 - $137,500 plus equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
