Job summary

Kodiak Robotics, Inc. in Mountain View, CA seeks an Accounting Manager to lead month-end close, reconciliations, and audit readiness. You will partner with the Finance team to implement scalable close processes and improve accuracy.

You will manage a growing accounting team, ensure U.S. GAAP compliance, support external audits, and drive continuous improvements in financial reporting and controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
  • 6+ years of accounting experience including public accounting and corporate roles.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting responsibilities.
  • Experience coordinating audits and PBC requests; ability to manage tight close schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Finance team to optimize close timelines and scalable processes.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes under U.S. GAAP with accuracy.
  • Perform account fluctuation analyses and investigate variances.
  • Support financial reporting under U.S. GAAP.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations using FloQast or similar tools.
  • Drive standardization across reconciliation processes.
  • Coordinate PBC requests for external audits and track deliverables.
  • Mentor and develop accounting team for continuous improvement.

Kodiak Robotics, Inc. was founded in 2018 and has become a leader in autonomous ground transportation committed to a safer and more efficient future for all. The company has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) powered technology stack purpose-built for commercial trucking and the public sector. The company delivers freight daily for its customers across the southern United States using its autonomous technology. In 2024, Kodiak became the first known company to publicly announce delivering a driverless semi‑truck to a customer. Kodiak is also leveraging its commercial self‑driving software to develop, test and deploy autonomous capabilities for the U.S. Department of Defense.

Kodiak is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our growing accounting team. This is a critical hire that will strengthen our internal capabilities as we scale. The role will help accelerate our month‑end close, enhance reconciliation processes, and improve audit readiness. The ideal candidate has deep operational accounting experience, strong leadership skills, and thrives in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.

In this role, you will:
  • Partner with the broader Finance team to optimize close timelines and implement scalable processes
  • Partner in leading and managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting under U.S. GAAP
  • Perform account fluctuation analyses and investigate variances
  • Support financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Oversee and enhance balance sheet reconciliations using FloQast or similar tools
  • Ensure assigned accounts are fully reconciled, supported, and documented
  • Drive consistency and standardization across reconciliation processes
  • Coordinate Prepared‑By‑Client (PBC) requests in support of external audits
  • Track, organize, and follow up on audit deliverables across stakeholders
  • Partner with auditors and internal teams to address inquiries efficiently
  • Manage and mentor a growing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
What you’ll bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • 6+ years of relevant accounting experience, including both public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and corporate experience
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and experience managing a variety of general ledger areas
  • Experience supporting audits and coordinating PBC requests
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud strongly preferred, including system design or implementation involvement
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to drive deadlines in a high‑growth environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and cross‑functional collaboration experience
  • Experience overseeing the accounting for manufacturing operations and cost accounting, including labor and materials tracking, inventory capitalization, and BOM accounting
Nice to haves:
  • Experience using FloQast, Blackline, or similar accounting close software
  • Familiarity with the transportation, automotive, robotics, or hardware sectors

The pay range listed below reflects the base salary in our SF/Silicon Valley location, across several internal levels. Actual starting pay will be based on job‑related factors including: work location, experience, relevant training, education, skill level and performance during interview. Total compensation at Kodiak includes base pay, equity, bonus and a competitive benefits package.

$135,000 - $155,000 USD
