The Accounting Manager will collaborate closely with Accounting, FP&A, Operations, Treasury, and other business partners to enhance financial processes, improve reporting accuracy and data quality, and drive automation, analytics, and AI-enabled accounting solutions. This position offers a blend of technical accounting, leadership, and transformation work within a transaction-intensive, homebuilding-oriented business.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee revenue and cost of sales accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with ASC 606 and U.S. GAAP.
  • Manage and perform revenue recognition activities, including reviewing contracts and transactions to ensure proper treatment under ASC 606.
  • Lead or support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and review financial reports related to revenue, cost of sales, and other key performance metrics, ensuring consistency and integrity of reported results.
  • Maintain and improve account reconciliation processes to ensure timely identification and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Support SOX compliance by maintaining documentation, executing internal controls, and ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and respond to internal and external audit requests, providing schedules, explanations, and evidence to support audit requirements.
  • Partner with FP&A, Operations, Treasury, and other business functions to align accounting outcomes with operational activities and business objectives.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and accuracy within revenue and cost of sales accounting.
  • Help design and deploy automation, analytics, and AI-enabled accounting tools to modernize workflows and reduce manual effort.
  • Leverage ERP, reconciliation, and reporting platforms to streamline data flows and improve reporting quality.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to senior and staff accountants, supporting their development and reinforcing best practices in technical accounting and controls.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
  • Contribute to a culture that emphasizes opportunity, growth, and continuous improvement within the accounting function.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Approximately 58 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in environments with complex, transaction-intensive activity.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 and demonstrated ability to apply revenue recognition guidance in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Solid technical foundation in U.S. GAAP and experience applying it to revenue and broader financial reporting matters.
  • Hands-on experience with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and variance analysis.
  • Revenue accounting and revenue recognition experience in a corporate or public company setting.
  • Experience operating in a SOX-compliant environment, including maintaining documentation, executing internal controls, and supporting audit requests.
  • Strong reconciliation skills and attention to detail in reviewing and resolving account balances.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis, with the ability to interpret results and explain variances.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on improving processes and data quality.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex accounting matters in a clear and concise way.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Accounting, FP&A, Operations, Treasury, and other functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to mentor and provide guidance to senior and staff accountants.
