Job summary

Clark Construction Group is seeking an experienced accounting professional to lead revenue, accounts receivable, cash, and compliance accounting for construction activities.

You will prepare journal entries, supervise 1–2 accountants, and ensure timely internal controls and DCAA reporting." Collaborate with the Accounting Director to design project plans, drive cross-functional initiatives, and deliver accurate financial reporting to senior management.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance with at least 4 years of progressive related work experience; CPA preferred
  • Familiarity with accounting principles (GAAP) and internal controls
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Experience leading project-based initiatives for cross-functional teams; relationship builder
  • Experience with Hyperion and Oracle tools a plus
  • Strong service orientation and team player

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise accounting for Revenue, Accounts Receivable, Cash, and Compliance-related items in support of construction activities
  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries and consolidation requirements
  • Manage setup and closeout of all construction jobs, including new job numbers and purging completed jobs
  • Design project plans with the Accounting Director to meet IT/Business initiatives and process improvements
  • Lead cross-functional teams supporting Master Data, General Ledger, and Cash Management/AR initiatives
  • Document end-user requirements for current procedures in the Accounting Department
  • Train end-users and test new tools to automate data entry and high-volume activities
  • Identify areas to streamline reporting for internal and external customers
  • Provide accounting and financial reporting support to senior management for new business lines
  • Support department initiatives as assigned

Responsibilities
  • Lead and prepare year-end and preliminary audit schedules (PBCs) and footnote disclosures for external auditors as it relates to revenue recognition accounting and reporting.
  • Perform/supervise the accounting function for Revenue, Accounts Receivable, Cash, and Compliance-related items in support of construction activities, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce policies and procedures for financial operations to ensure strong internal controls are in place.
  • Document accounting processes to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and DCAA reporting timelines and requirements.
  • Perform technical accounting research as needed in support of revenue recognition accounting standards and serve as subject matter expert to management on the application of new guidance to our construction activities.
  • Perform as an individual contributor and manage one to two accountants.
  • Prepare and/or review monthly journal entries in support of construction accounting transactions and consolidation requirements.

For this role the base salary range is $70,000 - $150,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
