Our client, AgentAI, has engaged us to identify an Accounting Manager to help build and strengthen its accounting function as the business grows. Reporting to the Controller, this individual will own the multi-entity monthly close, support acquisition integration, and improve accounting processes and systems. This is a hands-on opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys solving problems, working closely with a small team, and taking ownership in a fast-moving environment. The position is based on site in Woodland Hills, California.
About the company
AgentAI is a Series A company ($72M+ raised) is venture and PE-backed agentic AI company whose mission is to automate revenue cycle management for medical practices. We acquire legacy RCM companies to scale customers and domain expertise — five to date, roughly 300 employees across 20+ states — and migrate them onto our own platform. We also operate a group go-to-market team to further growth on top of the acquired businesses. We are a data- and fact-driven company; accounting is the foundation of our operational truth. We apply our AI-first mindset to internal operations, favoring automation, LLMs, and shared services over manual work and headcount.
About the Role
This role owns daily operational accounting and the monthly close across six operating entities, the consolidation, and the accounting integration of every acquisition — hands-on, with a small team, in a function being rebuilt while it runs. Priority #1: Accurate and timely transaction processing and closes. Followed by supporting the transition to a new ERP system.
Why AgentAI
- Build the close rather than inherit it — greenfield procedures, controls and systems at a well-capitalized platform.
- Direct Controller and CFO partnership; acquisition integration reps most accountants never get.
- AI-native by design. We are early on this rather than catching up — this is work most accounting organizations have not started.
- Culture that values data and the importance of getting it right in the ledgers, which supports automation and leverage over bureaucracy.
The following information will provide more insight. After reviewing the details below our hope is that you may know someone who would be interested in this highly visible role.
Responsibilities:
- Transaction Cycles — Own accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll accounting across the group. Day-to-day processing — invoice entry, cash application, AR follow-up — sits with your Staff Accountant; you set the procedure, review the output and work the exceptions.
- Close & Consolidation — Own the monthly close across our operating group plus the Holdco, adjustment and elimination layers: accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany matching and elimination, consolidation preparation, the reporting package and variance analysis. Deliver a Controller-review-ready package on a committed date.
- Revenue Accrual — Design, document and back-test the revenue estimate. Revenue is based on multiple pricing models and settlement data generally arrives after the books must close.
- Accounting Foundation — The Controller owns the architecture: chart of accounts, consolidation mapping and control design. You own it in practice — apply and maintain it across every entity, write the close checklist and desktop procedures to a standard where someone else could run them, and prepare audit schedules. When the design breaks, you find it before the close does and say so. Where you see a better structure, propose it.
- M&A Integration — Work with the Controller and our advisors to develop the accounting for each acquisition: opening balance sheet, chart of accounts mapping, subledger conversion, system cutover and first closes.
- Team — One Staff Accountant direct report. Assign, review and develop staff.
