JFE Franchising Inc, based in Houston, is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the accounting team and oversee daily financial operations in support of U.S. GAAP reporting.

You will manage month-end close, cost analysis, and intercompany accounting while driving policies, controls, and process improvements across multi-location franchises. This role offers a hybrid work environment and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 3+ years managing accounting staff.
• Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and close experience.
• Experience with cost accounting in retail or multi-location businesses.

Overview of the role:

The Accounting Manager owns and oversees company’s general accounting operations and the day to day accounting of the business through co-work with other accounting managers and staffs. This role supervises a team of several members for month-end closing, and is deeply involved in transactional accounting, cost reconciliation and expense analysis, lease tracking, supports corporate income tax and sales/use tax compliance and intercompany activities. You will be the primary driver of accounting policies, documentation, and process discipline while ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

Key Accountabilities:

Team Leadership & Daily Oversight

• Directly manage, coach, and develop a team of several accounting staffs
• Oversee daily accounting workflow, task assignments, and output quality
• Establish structure, accountability, and clear procedures across the team

Month-End Close Ownership

• Supervise and coordinate execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual close
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Continuously improve close efficiency and documentation
• Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and SOPs
• Ensure consistent application of policies across entities and locations
• Strengthen internal controls and audit readiness through documentation

Financial and cost analysis

• Analyze the financial statement of the month vs budget and previous year
• Gather the COGS and labor cost information to analyze the cost per store

Audit & Compliance Support

• Prepare audit schedules and support external audit requestsMaintain reconciliations and documentation to ensure audit readiness
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies

Process Improvement & Systems

• Identify gaps and inefficiencies in daily accounting processes
• Implement practical improvements and workflow enhancements
• Assist with system improvements and accounting automation

What You’ll Need:

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience
• 3+ years managing accounting staff
• Strong experience with full-cycle close and reconciliations
• Solid understanding in U.S. GAAP such as ASC 842 lease accounting, ASC985-20 intangible asset, income tax provision ASC 740
• Experience with cost accounting in retail, food, distribution, or multi-location businesses
• Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail

Preferred:

• Experience in franchise, retail, restaurant, grocery, or food production environments
• Experience in high transaction volume environments
• Active CPA license
• ERP system experience (QuickBooks or Business Central preferred)
