Job summary

The TJX Companies, Inc. in Framingham, MA is seeking a Financial Accounting Manager to lead the financial close and deliver accurate statements in line with US GAAP. You will mentor 2–3 accountants, review entries, reconciliations and complex transactions, and present analyses to business partners.

You will drive process improvements, maintain SOX controls, and coordinate with internal/external auditors while guiding the team through regulatory updates and new standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Accounting, Audit or Finance experience.
• Prior management experience (1–2+ years preferred).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
• Public Accounting is a plus.
• Strong understanding of GAAP (public/private or mix).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to delegate and lead a team to meet goals.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• Experience leading presentations to senior management.
• Problem solver with adaptable mindset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Oracle/ERP experience with exposure to OneStream is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze financial statements and disclosures for US GAAP compliance.
• Ensure SOX controls and overall control environment are maintained.
• Oversee special projects, management presentations and ad hoc requests.
• Lead accounting team in meetings with business partners on accounting matters.
• Identify and implement opportunities for operational improvements.
• Research new accounting standards and interpret them for the team.
• Lead discussions with internal and external auditors.

The Financial Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the financial close process and related activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness of the related TJX Financial Statements, as well as presenting and providing analysis of these financial statements. The Financial Accounting Manager is also responsible for the hiring, supervision, and development of a team of accountants.

• Manage the development and provide mentorship and training to 2 -3 Financial Accountants. Delegate work and assignments.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations and complex accounting transactions to ensure accuracy of Financial Statements
• Review and analyze Financial Statements and supporting schedules/disclosures - P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Forms 10-Q, 10-K, etc. with a focus on accuracy and timeliness and conformity with US GAAP
• Ensure control environment and SOX controls are maintained
• Own the oversight of special projects, management presentations and Ad Hoc requests
• Independently lead the accounting team in meetings with business partners on accounting matters
• Identify & implement opportunities for operational improvement & efficiencies
• Research and interpret new and recently issued accounting standards
• Lead discussions with Internal and External auditors with related audits

Who We Are Looking For: You.

• 5+ years of Accounting, Audit or Finance experience
• Prior management experience (1 to 2+ Years Preferred)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
• Public Accounting a plus
• Technical accounting and strong understanding of GAAP (public/private or mix)
• Excellent interpersonal / relationships skills / Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Proven track record to delegate and lead team to accomplish business goals, Ability to assess and develop talent
• Organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment and prioritize optimally, with consideration of broader team goals
• Experience leading presentations to senior management
• Adaptable, dynamic problem solver with solutioning skills
• Shown proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications
• Oracle/ERP experience and exposure to OneStream reporting a plus

This position has a starting salary range of $104,800.00 to $136,200.00 per year. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual incentive as well as long-term incentives.
