Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting activities for the organization.
• Manage and support the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and other general ledger activity.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, and general ledger functions.
• Review financial statements and investigate variances or unusual activity.
• Support job/project accounting, including job costing, WIP, revenue recognition, and project profitability.
• Partner with operations and project leaders to understand financial performance and resolve accounting issues.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and other financial reporting as needed.
• Develop and improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting capabilities.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and scalability within the accounting function.
• Assist with audits, tax filings, lender reporting, and other external reporting requirements.
• Provide guidance and oversight to accounting staff while remaining hands-on in the accounting function.

We are seeking an Accounting Manager to join a growing utility and construction company with a lean, hands‑on finance and accounting team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant who is ready to take the next step into management, as well as an established Accounting Manager who enjoys staying close to the day-to-day accounting.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in construction, utilities, infrastructure, telecom, or a similarly project‑based industry, along with a strong understanding of core accounting processes. This role will have meaningful ownership across the accounting function while partnering closely with operational leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting activities for the organization
• Manage and support the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• Experience in utility, construction, infrastructure, telecom, engineering, or another project-based industry strongly preferred
• Experience working within a mid-market company, ideally in the approximately $70M-$150M revenue range
• Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles
• Experience with month‑end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
