Job summary

Apex Group is hiring an experienced accounting leader to manage all accounting and financial operations for client entities in a dynamic, multi-entity environment. The role emphasizes GAAP compliance, accurate reporting, and robust internal controls.

You will supervise staff, oversee month-end and year-end closes, and drive process improvements while coordinating with auditors and financial institutions. Denver-based, in-office four days per week.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in accounting or finance with 3+ years related experience and 1+ year in a supervisory role.
  • CPA or MBA is a plus.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and strong accounting/finance/analytical skills.
  • Systems proficiency including Excel and accounting software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with non-financial managers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations for assigned client entities (GL, AP, payroll, project accounting, fixed assets, cash management, tax compliance).
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in line with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closes, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Maintain ledgers, perform bank reconciliations, and prepare tax-related reports.
  • Establish and enhance internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Manage cash flow including domestic and international wire transfers.
  • Review loan provisions to ensure contractual compliance.
  • Oversee payroll processing for exempt/non-exempt employees.
  • Develop relationships with vendors, auditors, and external stakeholders.
  • Supervise accounting staff and support audits and tax activities.
  • Identify process improvements and lead ad hoc analyses.
  • Lead special projects and strategic initiatives.

The Role & Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all accounting and financial operations for assigned client entities, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, project accounting, fixed assets, cash management, and tax compliance.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports, including analysis of revenue, earnings, profitability, cash flow, and other key financial metrics.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
  • Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers, perform bank reconciliations, and prepare tax-related reports and supporting documentation.
  • Establish, implement, and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, procedures, and financial systems to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Manage cash flow activities, including monitoring bank account balances, initiating fund transfers, and processing domestic and international wire transactions.
  • Review and interpret financial provisions within loan agreements and other financing documents to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Oversee payroll processing for exempt and non-exempt employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll regulations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, financial institutions, auditors, and external stakeholders.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support accounting staff, including professional accountants and clerical personnel, through subordinate supervisors where applicable.
  • Support audits, regulatory reviews, and tax compliance activities by providing required documentation and financial analysis.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to strengthen financial reporting and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead and participate in special projects, strategic initiatives, and ad hoc financial analyses as requested by management.
Skills Required
  • BS/BA in accounting or finance or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years related experience and at least one year in a supervisory position.
  • CPA or MBA a plus.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and solid accounting, finance and analytical skills.
  • Systems and operational skills, including proficiency with Excel and accounting software.
  • Written and oral communication, including ability to communicate effectively with non-financial managers and all levels of personnel.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Energetic, flexible team player with the ability to multi-task and juggle multiple shifting priorities.
  • Able to stay organized and focused in a hectic environment.

Salary ranges from USD $115,000.00 – USD $130,000.00 plus additional discretionary yearly bonus based on corporate and individual's performance. Compensation within this range is dependent on individual's skills, experience and qualifications.
