Job summary

Kranz Consulting is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the Baxter Springs, Kansas facility's accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, fixed assets, and month-end close. The role partners with operations and finance leadership to drive accuracy and internal controls.

You will lead a small team, mentor staff, implement process improvements, and support budgeting and forecasting for the manufacturing site, the organization's flagship operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance with supervisory experience.
• 3–5 years of accounting with public accounting background; 5–7 years in industry with no public accounting.
• Manufacturing experience is preferred.
• CPA designation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and close processes.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and analyses to ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls.
• Drive month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely reporting and improved close efficiency.
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls for accuracy and efficiency.
• Lead internal and external audit activities, coordinating schedules and resolving findings.
• Collaborate with operations and finance leadership to mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate reporting requirements.
• Champion process improvements and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and data integrity.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities with accurate data and insights.
• Contribute to the growth of a world-class finance organization supporting a global manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Manager is a key member of the accounting team supporting the Baxter Springs, Kansas facility, the largest manufacturing operation within the organization and home to the production of industry-leading ultrahigh-pressure pumps and spare parts for our waterjet cutting systems.

The Accounting Manager leads day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial close processes, while helping ensure accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls. Partnering closely with operations and finance leadership, this role offers the opportunity to develop a talented team, improve processes, leverage technology, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the flagship manufacturing facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the accounting function, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information.
• Oversee all general accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and general ledger management.
• Review and approve complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and accounting analyses while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting policies.
• Drive the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, adherence to deadlines, and continuous improvement of close cycle efficiency.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that strengthen financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and compliance.
• Lead audit activities, including coordination with internal and external auditors, preparation of supporting schedules, and successful resolution of audit findings.
• Collaborate with the Assistant Controller to develop, mentor, and inspire a high-performing accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and professional growth.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and corporate reporting requirements, policies, and regulations.
• Champion process improvement and automation initiatives by leveraging technology and best practices to increase efficiency, scalability, and data integrity across the finance function.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities by providing accurate financial data and business insights.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of a world-class finance organization capable of supporting the company's continued expansion in a global manufacturing environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, supervisory experience required.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience with a background in public accounting, 5-7 years of experience in industry with no public accounting

• CPA designation preferred.
