Job description

About Tribe AI

At Tribe, we're on a mission to help enterprises realize the value of AI for their business. Every large enterprise wants to use AI to transform how they operate — but many don't have the capabilities to do it. That gap is our opportunity.

We're an AI-native services company that helps enterprises build and deploy best-in-class AI products that deliver real business impact.

The role

You'll own our accounting function end to end: the monthly close, revenue recognition, client billing, and financial reporting. You'll be the person who does accounting at Tribe — a role we're carving out so the close gets faster and cleaner as we scale. You'll partner closely with our account GMs, our People team, and our external auditors and tax advisors.

What you'll do
Own the monthly close
  • Run the full close: bank and card reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Book stock-based compensation, lease entries (ASC 842), and FX revaluation on foreign balances

  • Own the close calendar, review journal entries, and keep shortening the close

Revenue and billing
  • Own revenue recognition and the deferred revenue rollforward under ASC 606 for our project-based client work

  • Issue client invoices on contract schedules and run a monthly review with account leads to confirm billable amounts, milestones, and hours

  • Resolve invoicing exceptions — milestone slips, change orders, holdbacks — and review new contracts for billing and rev-rec treatment

  • Manage AR and follow up on aged balances

Payroll, contractors and compensation
  • Run bi-weekly payroll across our US and international entities plus external contractors, and record the resulting journals

  • Review and pay our monthly external contractor roster, and onboard new contractors — W-9 and W-8BEN collection, payment setup, and the records that feed year-end filing

  • Calculate and process quarterly sales commissions with GTM, including plan interpretation, split calls and payment through payroll

  • Calculate and process quarterly bonuses

  • Own 401(k) administration — bi-weekly deferral funding, annual compliance testing, and Form 5500 with our plan provider

AP and spend
  • Run weekly payment runs and keep vendor spend flowing cleanly into the ledger

  • Review major vendor invoices for prepaid vs. expense treatment

  • Administer our corporate card and expense platform — issue cards for new hires and review expense reimbursements against policy

  • Manage corporate mail and registered-agent correspondence, escalating tax and legal notices

Equity administration
  • Issue new-hire stock grants and prepare board consents

  • Process terminations, share repurchases and option exercises

  • Track 83(b) elections and ISO/NSO status

  • Run the annual 409A valuation process with our cap-table provider

Reporting, audit, and compliance
  • Produce month-end financial statements and the monthly reporting package

  • Manage our annual audit end to end — auditor relationship, PBC schedules, and the first-year opening balance sheet

  • Issue annual 1099, W-2 and 1042-S forms, including foreign contractor reporting

  • Own the annual tax return package and manage the relationship with our tax advisor

  • Own the compliance calendar: quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments, Delaware franchise tax, state registrations and secretary of state filings

  • Maintain the chart of accounts and run periodic access reviews across our finance systems

What we're looking for
  • 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience; you've owned a month-end close end to end, ideally at a fast-growing company

  • Hands‑on ASC 606 experience with services or project‑based revenue (time & material, milestones, deferred revenue)

  • Working knowledge of ASC 842 and stock‑based compensation accounting

  • Experience with multi-country payroll accounting and multi‑currency balances

  • You've run payroll end to end and are comfortable owning equity and benefits administration

  • Fluency with modern cloud accounting/ERP systems (think NetSuite or Sage Intacct tier) and spend‑management tools

  • CPA or a public accounting foundation is a plus

  • You use AI tools in your daily work and want to push what a modern finance function looks like — we're an AI company and expect the same fluency internally

  • You build process where there is none, document as you go, and communicate clearly with non‑finance partners

Why Join Us
  • Join at an inflection point — we're in hyperscale mode on every dimension of the business, and the accounting function is yours to build as it scales.

  • Your work lands on the desks that matter — the monthly package you produce goes straight to the CEO

  • We're profitable — the growth you'll be accounting for is funded by the business itself. For a finance person, that's the rare seat where the fundamentals match the pitch.
