Job summary

Hy-Vee is offering an Accounting II Internship at the Corporate Office in West Des Moines, Iowa, running from mid-May through mid-August 2027. This paid, 40-hour per week position provides hands-on exposure to general ledger reconciliation, accruals, and month-end close tasks.

You'll work with senior accounting staff, prepare journal entries and analytical reports, and participate in department meetings and special projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; two years of relevant college education in accounting.
• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate data handling.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and balance accruals.
• Maintain a detailed trial balance and assist month-end close.
• Prepare journal entries, analytical reports, and reconciliations.
• Analyze data for accruals and management reporting.
• Respond to financial inquiries with data-driven insights.
• Suggest improvements to accounting and control procedures.
• Attend monthly Accounting Department Meetings and assist on ad-hoc projects.
