Job summary

Barrett Paving Materials, a Barrett Industries company, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Intern to support our finance team in Middletown, OH. This internship provides hands-on experience in accounting, financial reporting, and business operations within the construction industry.

You'll assist with invoices, prepare financial statements, reconcile bank and general ledger accounts, enter data, and support month-end close.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing invoices, expenses, and vendor payments.
• Help prepare financial statements and reports.
• Support the reconciliation of bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
• Enter and maintain accurate data in accounting systems.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Help maintain and organize digital and physical financial records.
• Participate in audits by preparing documentation and supporting materials.
• Assist in analyzing financial data for budgeting and forecasting.
• Collaborate with accounting staff to support daily accounting operations.
• Complete other accounting or finance-related tasks as assigned by supervisors.
