Job summary

Herc Rentals seeks an motivated accounting/finance student to support our accounting and finance teams. You will participate in the close and reporting cycle, help prepare journal entries, refine processes, document internal controls, and assist with system implementations.

You’ll gain exposure to General Ledger, Order to Cash, External Reporting, FP&A, Tax, Internal Audit, and Treasury while learning how Sarbanes-Oxley controls are applied in a large North American organization.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance with an Accounting focus.
• GPA minimum 2.5/3.0 in major.
• Completed a minimum of 9 credit hours in Accounting major coursework or similar.
• Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Learn about the company’s accounting cycle and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist in journal entries, internal control documentation, and process refinement.
• Prepare internal reports by gathering data from the general ledger and other systems.
• Develop spreadsheet reports and verify information for financial analyses.
• Support in Sarbanes-Oxley internal control compliance and financial reporting requirements.

Job Purpose

Opportunity to develop your Accounting skills by supporting the Herc Rentals accounting and finance teams. Participate in various projects in the accounting close and reporting cycle by assisting in the preparation of journal entries, process refinement, internal control documentation, system implementations, and other finance related initiatives.

What you will do

• Learn about the company’s accounting cycle, including balance sheet account reconciliations, journal entries, internal controls, and financial analysis
• Learn about other accounting and finance functions including: General Ledger Accounting, Order to Cash, External Reporting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Tax, Internal Audit, Finance Business Partners, and Treasury
• Prepares internal reports by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from other systems
• Analyzes information by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying information
• Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and reconciling accounts
• Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
• Understands and maintains Sarbanes Oxley internal control compliance
• Understands financial reporting requirements
• Project work as assigned

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance with an Accounting focus
• Currently enrolled in at a university with a minimum GPA of 2.5/3.0 in major
• Completed a minimum of 9 credit hours in Accounting major coursework or similar.
• Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint

$22.00/hr
