Job summary

Bankers Financial Corporation in Saint Petersburg, FL is offering a paid accounting internship with 20–40 hours per week and flexible scheduling to fit class commitments. Interns will join weekly gatherings with interns, managers, and executives to gain real-world experience and build professional networks.

The role supports day-to-day accounting, including payables/receivables, month-end close, and audits, helping prepare financial statements and maintain records while learning company policies

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented, organized, and highly analytical with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to quickly learn new concepts and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support the accounting team in day-to-day operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Help prepare financial statements, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Assist in maintaining accurate and organized financial records in compliance with company policies.
• Participate in internal audits, including testing internal controls, gathering supporting documentation, and summarizing findings.
• Assist in preparing schedules and documentation requested by external auditors.
• Help ensure adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
• Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and vendor accounts.
• Assist with expense tracking, invoice processing, and payment runs.
• Help identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve accuracy.
• Prepare reports and summaries for managers and executive leadership.
• Assist with various accounting and cross-functional projects as needed
