Garney Construction is seeking a 2027 Summer Accounting Intern to gain hands-on experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable within our Kansas City, MO office. This full-time internship spans three months during the summer, and class credit is available.

You will learn corporate accounting processes while contributing to the team and supporting daily finance activities. The role is ideal for a student pursuing an accounting degree, with exposure to Excel and basic accounting concepts.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Basic understanding of accounting.
• Great attitude with willingness to learn from professionals in the industry.

In this role, you will support an ambitious team that thrives on collaboration and innovation. Garney Construction is a growing, employee owned water and wastewater general contractor currently looking for 2027 Summer Accounting Interns. The internship position will provide an opportunity for a currently enrolled college student to gather accounting knowledge from a construction company perspective. This position will involve learning about Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes and procedures. We offer hands-on experience to leverage your classroom knowledge and convert it into professional skills. TheAccounting Internship is a full-time position at our Kansas City, MO, office over a three-month period during the Summer, available for class credit.

• Assisting with Accounts Receivable pay application entry
• Completing job audits
• Assisting with other accounting functions
• Supporting month-end closing activities
• Journal Entry preparation

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other related field preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Basic understanding of accounting
• Great attitude with the willingness to learn from professionals in the industry
