Job summary

VersaBank seeks an Accounting & Financial Reporting Analyst in Minneapolis to support US GAAP accounting and consolidated financial reporting. You will work with management, regulators, auditors, and teams to prepare accurate financial information and strengthen controls through automation and process improvements.

Role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, 3–6 years in accounting or reporting, and advancing CPA status.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
  • CPA designation or progress toward CPA preferred.
  • 3–6 years of accounting or financial reporting experience, preferably in financial institutions, public accounting, or publicly traded companies.
  • Experience preparing US GAAP financial statements and related disclosures preferred.
  • Experience preparing Statements of Cash Flows preferred.
  • Experience supporting bank or bank holding company reporting preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft skills (Excel, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare inputs into monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements and disclosures for SEC and regulatory reporting.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with US GAAP accounting policy implementation.
  • Support audits and regulatory examinations with documentation and requests.
  • Contribute to SOX 404 internal controls development and maintenance.
  • Utilize Sage ERP and other reporting tools to prepare financial reports and improve reporting capabilities.
  • Analyze financial data, investigate variances, trends and unusual transactions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and governance.

We are looking for an Accounting & Financial Reporting Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will support the US GAAP accounting and consolidated financial reporting function of VersaBank while ensuring compliance with US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, applicable banking regulations, and internal control standards. You will will work closely with management, regulators, external auditors, and other members of the team to prepare accurate and timely financial information. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging technology, automation, and process enhancements to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and enhance the quality and timeliness of financial reporting.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Prepare inputs into the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements and related disclosures for SEC and regulatory reporting.
  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and other accounting analyses.
  • Assist with the implementation of US GAAP accounting policies.
  • Support internal and external audits and regulatory examinations by preparing requested documentation and responding to information requests.
  • Assist with the development, documentation, and maintenance of SOX 404 internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Utilize Sage ERP and other reporting tools to prepare financial reports, validate accounting data, and improve reporting capabilities.
  • Analyze financial data and investigate variances, trends, and unusual transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and standardization that enhance efficiency while maintaining strong governance and compliance standards.
  • Assist with accounting, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and other special projects as assigned.
What we look for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
  • 3–6 years of accounting or financial reporting experience, preferably with a financial institution, public accounting firm, or publicly traded company.
  • Experience preparing or supporting US GAAP financial statements and related disclosures preferred.
  • Experience preparing Statements of Cash Flows preferred.
