Job summary

Minnesota Public Radio | American Public Media offers a 22-week Accounting/Finance Internship in St. Paul, MN. This role supports the Finance team on projects to strengthen financial integrity, internal controls, and process improvements. The internship is offered for 24 or 40 hours weekly, with a Monday–Friday schedule.

You will gain hands-on exposure to monthly and annual accounting cycles, reporting, and technology-enabled processes, preparing you for a career in public finance.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college or university, or graduated within the past 18 months.
• Available 24-hours or 40-hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Interest in pursuing a career in accounting/finance or admission into a graduate business program.
• Completed introductory coursework in finance or accounting (e.g., financial accounting, audit, information systems).
• Familiar with and willing to learn fundamental accounting, internal control, and auditing concepts.
• Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities.
• Effective problem solver requires strong coordination and communication skills.
• Interest in financial systems and creating efficiency using technology.
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook, including AI tools.
