Job summary

Mercor is hiring Accounting Experts to evaluate AI-generated outputs on challenging accounting problems, ensuring accuracy and alignment with professional standards.

You will compare two responses, cite GAAP/IFRS, and provide feedback to improve model behavior. Role starts immediately with rolling reviews and a flexible 10–20 hour weekly commitment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience in accounting, audit, or tax.
• CPA or equivalent credential and/or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Fluency in GAAP and IFRS and financial-statement analysis.
• Excellent written communication with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate two AI-generated responses for accuracy and select the better one.
• Explain why outputs are superior with GAAP/IFRS standards and quality of reasoning.
• Provide written feedback to the research team to improve model behavior.
• Read input files and model outputs to inform judgment and document findings clearly.
• Participate in onboarding and specialty calibration sessions.

About the Role

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research lab to train frontier models on rigorous accounting and financial-reporting reasoning. We're hiring Accounting Experts to evaluate and compare model outputs on challenging accounting problems, helping shape how the next generation of AI reasons about financial statements, auditing, and tax.

Your accounting expertise will ensure each evaluation is accurate, precise, and aligned with real-world professional standards.

What You'll Do

• Compare two AI-generated responses to the same prompt and decide which one is better
• Work from the provided input files and read each model's reasoning / thought process to inform your judgment
• Clearly explain why one output outperforms the other, citing correctness, standards compliance (GAAP/IFRS), and quality of reasoning
• Provide written feedback the research team uses to improve model behavior
• Participate in onboarding and specialty calibration sessions

You're a Good Fit If You

• Have 2+ years of professional experience in accounting, audit, or tax (public accounting, corporate finance, or advisory)
• Hold a CPA (or equivalent) and/or a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Are fluent in GAAP and/or IFRS and financial-statement analysis
• Demonstrate excellent written communication with high attention to detail
