Accounting Director

Role OverviewCNC is seeking an experienced and detail-driven Accounting Director to lead the company’s financial operations and support its next phase of growth. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is passionate about building scalable accounting systems, optimizing cash flow, and ensuring financial compliance. The ideal candidate brings experience from high-growth companies, excels at managing the monthly close process, and has a hands-on approach to solving problems and driving improving operations across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Accounting

  • Own and manage the full monthly and year-end close process

  • Maintain and oversee the general ledger, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, dashboards, and variance analysis reports for leadership and key stakeholders

  • Monitor cashflow and act as the primary point of contact for treasury management

Process Improvement & Controls

  • Evaluate current financial processes and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and audit readiness standards

Compliance & Reporting

  • Act as the primary point of contact for external tax advisors

  • Coordinate preparation of annual tax filings, 1099s and other compliance requirements

  • Maintain proper records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with leadership, account teams, and production leads to support project financial needs

  • Support revenue recognition practices and ensure alignment between operational and financial reporting

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of accounting experience, with 3+ years in a manager or director-level role, ideally reporting directly to a controller

  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment, preferably in tech or media

  • Proficient in modern accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct

  • Strong Excel skills; experience with financial reporting and reconciliation

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organization and time management skills

  • Able to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and communicate effectively across teams
