Job summary

Daemen University is seeking a Senior Controller to oversee accounting processes, budget management, and monthly close. You will supervise two staff, coordinate with auditors, and ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting for the University.

The role involves cash monitoring, journals, and system enhancements across multiple funds, with collaboration across Finance and Administration leadership. A CPA or CPA-equivalent is preferred; extensive experience supports success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required with 7+ years of experience or equivalent
• CPA, CMA or MBA preferred; fund accounting knowledge a plus
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
• Supervisory ability and experience managing staff
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and major accounting software

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting processes and systems for the University to improve efficiency
• Manage budget process and variance analysis at university/department levels
• Oversee general ledger, journal entries, and monthly reconciliations
• Supervise two staff and daily cash monitoring and receipts handling
• Support Controller with monthly financial reports and audits
• Coordinate annual audit and provide required documentation
• Manage accounts payable and E-procurement workflows
• Maintain and monitor online payment systems and insurance renewals
