ABOUT THE POSITION

Accounting Consultant, Kiwi Lines of Business – Accounting Services (Hybrid, New York)

The Accounting Consultant will deliver exceptional accounting services to our nonprofit community.

Technical Responsibilities
  1. Create management financial reports, including but not limited to:
  • Statement of Activities (Income Statement);
  • Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet);
  • Cash Flow Statement;
  • Budget v. Actual Variance Report;
  • Prepare notes, where applicable, explaining variances against the budget in order to provide insight and clarity to the reader.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and/or projections/forecasts.
  • Prepare Board packages for client Finance/Audit/Board meetings.
  • Prepare for the external annual audit.
  • Participate in new engagement start-ups and defining project scope.
  • Deliver financial and management reports to the client Executive Director each month.
  • Implement Kiwi standard working procedures on engagements with guidance from Kiwi engagement lead.
  • Suggest technology upgrades and new accounting technology tools, in collaboration with the Kiwi Consulting team.
  • Provide thought leadership to our clients, and actively participate in Client Advisory meetings.
  • Qualifications

    To be successful in this role you’ll need:

    1. Residence within 1 hour commuting distance of New York, NY.
    2. Associate degree, bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent level of experience.
    3. 5 years of experience without an Associate’s degree.
    4. 7 years of experience without a Bachelor’s degree.
    5. 3 – 5 years of accounting experience.
    6. Experience working in multiple work environments and balancing the needs of several clients.
    7. Strong attention to detail.
    Other Highly Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
    1. Prior experience in small non-profits, startup, or unstructured environment.
    2. Bachelor’s degree in accounting (Master’s or CPA preferred).
    3. Experience with nonprofit accounting.
    Total Rewards (compensation and benefits)

    This is a full-time position. We offer a competitive and holistic total rewards package that includes salary, bonus, and benefits. Our compensation ranges are based on salary ranges for similar sized organizations in the professional services sector and adjusted for local labor market rates.

    NYC Payband: $62,000- $77,000

    All full-time staff are eligible for our generous benefits package on their first day of employment:

    • Health insurance - On average we pay 86% of the medical premium, 80% of the dental premium, and 100% of the vision premium.
