Job summary

NortheastSharedServices in New York is seeking a Tax Clerk to support the tax department across a multi-location grocery store chain. You will help prepare filings, process tax payments, assist audits, and prepare journal entries with related reconciliations; position can be based in Buffalo or Schenectady.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proficient with Excel and data analytics, and able to manage large datasets and multiple deadlines.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in accounting, finance or tax is preferred but not required.
• 2+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze data necessary to prepare and file sales and use tax returns in multiple states and localities.
• Assist in the preparation of the property tax filings and ensure timely payment of bills.
• Respond to tax inquiries from internal team, vendors and tax authorities in relation to details like Resale and Capital Improvement certificates, EINs or W-9 requests.
• Assist in calendar year end fringe benefit calculations and informational return data gathering and preparation.
• Reconcile tax related accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Monitor changes in tax rates and laws and ensure communication to those impacted.
