Job summary

CFS seeks a Staff Accountant - Sales Tax in Garden City, NY, on-site. This role offers exposure to multi-state filings, registrations, and tax compliance as the company expands its footprint.

You will prepare and support sales tax filings, research jurisdiction requirements, reconcile tax accounts, maintain exemptions, and collaborate with accounting and operations to improve reporting and processes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of sales and use tax, indirect tax, or related accounting/compliance experience.
• Experience with multi-state sales tax filings, registrations, and jurisdictional requirements.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP or accounting systems; Sage Intacct experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Taxation, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and support sales and use tax filings across multiple state and local jurisdictions.
• Research tax requirements and manage registrations as the business expands into new jurisdictions.
• Reconcile sales tax accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain exemption documentation and support sales tax audits, notices, and compliance requests.
• Partner with accounting and operations teams to improve sales tax processes and reporting.
