Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen with ability to obtain security clearance.
  • High school diploma or GED with 2+ years of post-secondary education in business/finance/accounting, or a 4-year degree.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Word, Outlook, Access and related Office products; comfortable with databases and multiple monitors.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial processing.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Must complete U.S. Government background investigation and security clearance; report onsite as required.
  • Knowledge of English language structure, spelling, composition, and grammar.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and in person.
  • Ability to address customer inquiries with a courteous and patient demeanor.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial, accounting, and administrative support to the CBP Office of Finance.
  • Audit and reconcile employee leave balances and pay records.
  • Research and resolve pay discrepancies.
  • Process union dues, garnishments, separation debts, onboarding documents, and pay-related activities.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and manage pay-related tickets.
  • Support workers' compensation, retirement, tax adjustments, and Voluntary Leave Transfer Program activities.
  • Reconcile assigned General Ledger accounts and prepare journal vouchers.
  • Assist with accounting and financial reports and audit requests.
  • Audit and process temporary-duty and permanent-change-of-station travel vouchers.
  • Manage relocation program invoices and travel-related inquiries.
  • Process vendor and utility invoices and track invoice status.
  • Manage daily deposits to the Treasury.
  • Input payment schedules and coordinate with procurement and contracting officers.
  • Support government credit card program operations and reconcile billing data.
  • Provide user assistance and perform other finance operations duties as assigned.
  • Report onsite when required to support business or contract requirements.

Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • High school diploma or GED and at least two years of post-high school education in business, management, finance, accounting, or related field OR completion of a four-year program at an accredited college or university in any field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Word, Outlook, Access, Microsoft Office products, established databases, and multiple monitors
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial processing
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Must successfully complete the required U.S. Government background investigation and security clearance process
  • Must obtain and maintain the required security clearance as a condition of employment and continued employment
  • Knowledge of English language structure, content, spelling, composition, and grammar
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and in person
  • Ability to address customer inquiries with a pleasant and patient demeanor
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages
  • Ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and interpret varied instructions
  • Must comply with all CBP security, training, and onboarding requirements
  • Professional demeanor and adherence to CBP's standards of conduct
  • May be required to work overtime during peak periods and perform mission-essential functions during government furloughs or shutdowns
  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the designated CBP office and be able to report onsite when required
  • Position is subject to the Service Contract Act
