Join the State of North Carolina at Piedmont Correctional Institution in Salisbury as an Accounts Payable specialist. This full-time position involves processing invoices, managing purchase orders, and working collaboratively with institutional staff. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong accounting knowledge and effective communication skills.
This is a position at Piedmont Correctional Institution located in Salisbury, N.C. (Rowan County), which is a Medium male prison facility housing 800 inmates.
This position oversees the Accounts Payable procedures for the facility. Duties of this position are to process all invoices for payment utilizing NCFS and preparation of purchase order requests. Enter and track requisitions utilizing e procurement and NCFS. Responsible for monthly budget reports, processing CNTR5 payments and entering and monitoring usage orders, manages and monitors purchase cards and performs monthly reconciliation of those accounts. This position is responsible for completing several reports and responding to inmate inquiries and grievances. This person must be able to work independently be able to meet constant deadlines while performing several tasks simultaneously. This position deals frequently with institutional staff regarding purchase orders and/or P-card purchases. This position has frequent contact with NCDAC staff relative to Inmate Trust Fund and with outside vendors regarding Purchase Orders, and P-Card purchases. This position must be able to communicate well and work well with staff at all levels. This position is the back up for the Trust Fund clerk and will be involved in cross-training with this position to include but not limited to the Inmate Banking System.

The salary grade for this position is NC02. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
“As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state’s pay plans which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range(s) will be $31,200-$49,340.”
