Wilson College invites applications for a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Clerk to join our Business Office team. This position plays an essential role in supporting the daily financial operations of the College, including account reconciliations, student account services, departmental deposits, and grant reporting. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in the preparation of documentation for quarterly and annual financial statements
- Prepare and maintain monthly reconciliations of asset and liability accounts
- Support the compilation of financial data for grant reporting purposes
- Prepare journal entries for submission within the Colleague accounting system
- Analyze and organize data for ongoing and ad hoc projects as assigned
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly and year-end financial closings
- Perform monthly reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and completeness
- Provide assistance with additional accounting tasks and special projects as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary to support the Business Office and the college’s financial operations.
COMPETENCIES:
- Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices; ability to work with accounting software systems (e.g., Colleague) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions for data analysis and reconciliation.
- Attention to Detail: Demonstrates a high level of accuracy in preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and reviewing financial data. Maintains precision in data entry and recordkeeping.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
- Full-time, non-exempt, regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
- Some work during evenings and weekends may be required.
TRAVEL:
- Travel is not a regular requirement of this position and is expected to be minimal, if any.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience working in an accounting or financial operations environment is preferred.
- Experience with database systems required; familiarity with Ellucian Colleague strongly preferred.
Comparable combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, conditional formatting, and data validation. Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively navigate enterprise systems, including ERP and financial reporting software.
