Job summary

AutoCanada, the largest Canadian owned automotive dealer group operating in Canada and the US, is seeking an Accounting Clerk for its Used Digital department at the Winnipeg Satellite Office. This permanent, full-time role supports deal processing from across Canada and handles general accounting duties.

You will assist the Controller in full-cycle accounting across two entities, manage deal postings, bank reconciliations, journal entries, A/P and A/R duties, and monthly schedules.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in accounting or related experience.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Proficient in Excel and able to handle confidential information with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Controller in full-cycle accounting across two entities.
• Deal postings (Wholesale and Retail).
• Bank reconciliations and related postings.
• Prepare and process journal entries and adjustments.
• Collaborate with dealership teams on daily deposits, AP/AR, and daily accounting issues.
• Stock inventory in the system and process payments (cheques, EFT/Wire).
• Communicate with vendors and maintain monthly schedules.
• Assist with financial statement preparation and audit requests.

What drives your day-to-day?

• Assist Controller in the full-cycle accounting functions across 2 entities
• Deal postings (Wholesale and Retail)
• Bank reconciliations and associated postings required
• Prepare and process journal entries and adjustments to ensure proper recording of all business transactions
• Work closely with dealership team members to address any issues such as daily deposits, accounts payable, and any other day to day accounting issues
• A/P and A/R duties
• Stocking in of inventory into system
• Processing cheques and EFT/Wire payments
• Communicate with vendors
• Maintaining monthly schedules
• Assist Controller in financial statement preparation and reporting
• Assist Controller with audit requests
• Other duties as required

This position requires an individual who has strong and reliable time management skills along with effective organizational and team abilities. A passion for working with numbers and experience in the automotive industry are assets as well as:

• Post secondary education in accounting or related experience
• Familiarity with CDK accounting software is considered an asset
• Strong attention to detail
• Proficient in Excel
• The ability to professionally handle confidential matters and show appropriate level of judgement
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Automotive experience will be considered an asset
