Job summary

Christ Community Health Services Augusta is seeking an Accounting Associate to support daily accounting operations in a faith-based healthcare setting. You will handle accounts payable, donations, and grants, ensuring GAAP-compliant recording and accurate vendor management.

The role requires strong attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to coordinate with internal departments and external vendors in a Full Time, in-person environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have GAAP knowledge and understanding of accounting concepts.
  • Experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • Able to enter, code, and track financial data accurately in accounting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the full accounts payable cycle including vendor communications and invoicing.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of invoices and payments.
  • Review, reconcile, and approve corporate credit card transactions.
  • Assist in tracking grant funds to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Record financial transactions per GAAP and internal classifications.
  • Maintain vendor tax documentation and assist with 1099 preparation.
  • Support month-end close, audit prep, and year-end reporting.

Position Summary:

The Accounting Associate supports the Accounting Department by maintaining daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank deposits, vendor relations, grant tracking, month-end closing, year-end reporting, and other administrative tasks. This role plays a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination with internal departments and external vendors.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain the full accounts payable cycle, including vendor communication and invoice processing
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of invoices and payments into the accounting system
  • Review, reconcile, and support approval of corporate credit card transactions
  • Assist the Accounting Manager in tracking and monitoring grant funds to ensure compliance with funding requirements
  • Accurately record financial transactions, including donations, grants, expenses, and other revenue, in accordance with GAAP and internal classifications
  • Maintain and update vendor tax documentation
  • Support annual 1099 preparation
  • Organize and retain financial documentation in compliance with internal and regulatory retention policies
  • Assist the Accounting Manager with accounts receivable, including invoice generation and account reconciliation
  • Assist with month-end closing activities, audit preparation, and year-end reporting
  • Maintain accurate 340B accounts payable records
  • Perform other duties and special projects assigned by the Accounting Manager or Chief Financial Officer

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Intermediate experience with Google Workspace

  • The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem
  • Able to prioritize and complete work independently while also proactively engaging teammates as necessary
  • Experience working within an electronic accounting software platform and proficient experience with Microsoft Office products

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some combination of coursework or post-secondary certificate preferred
  • 2 or more years of clerical, administrative, or data entry experience in a business-related setting
  • 3 or more years of accounts payable or general accounting experience
