Working Conditions:

Work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts. Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations.

Licensing and Certification:

Must possess a valid Class C Nevada Driver's License at time of appointment. Specific positions may require either a Class A or Class B Nevada Driver’s License with a tanker endorsement. Must possess a valid Nevada Water Environment Association (NWEA) Plant Mechanical Technologist Grade III Certification. Collection Systems Operator Grade III Certification, OR Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade III Certification. Some positions may require specific certifications depending on area of assignment. Reciprocity for equivalent certifications from other states may be considered. NOTE: Clark County will accept submission of a Nevada Water Environment Association (NWEA) Plant Mechanical Technologist Grade II certification for this recruitment. An NWEA Plant Mechanical Technologist Grade III Certification will be required within one year of certification availability.

Medical Examination:

Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician, as well as a pre-employment drug test.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Reviews requests for work within the asset management area. Prepares job plans and coordinates the use of skilled and unskilled trades. Visits job sites and investigates work for feasibility and efficient labor utilization. Confers with requestor for clarification. Outlines in detail all work assigned. Obtains drawings and technical publications for review. Prepares detailed estimates including labor, materials, repair parts, special tools, and equipment needed. Recommends equipment, facility, and process improvements and cost reductions. Establishes and maintains labor time standards. Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system to develop and track job plans, safety plans, job hazard and confined space plans, and equipment hierarchies. Establishes standards for repetitive jobs such as preventative and periodic maintenance and adjusts scheduling frequencies to optimize departmental effectiveness. Develops and tracks work order backlogs and interfaces with information technology and geographic information systems staff to update reports and database information. Prepares weekly work/maintenance schedules for approval. Works with supporting staff to establish/optimize equipment maintenance and operational procedures. Coordinates work with and among assigned teams and other Planner/Schedulers as needed. Determines material and equipment needed and availability in stores. Assesses urgency of work and recommends priority. Prepares stores requisitions and allocates material to work orders. Works with purchasing and stores staff to acquire necessary equipment and specialized tools. Inspects work areas. Coordinates with, and oversees the day-to-day maintenance and functions of materials management systems. Conducts job hazard analysis of employee tasks. Ensures compliance by employees with safety policies and OSHA regulations. May participate in the investigation of accidents. Evaluates safety performance. Reports progress and project status verbally and in writing; attends meetings as required. Ensures all training requirements are met. Drives a motor vehicle in order to inspect work sites, and responds to emergency situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in a typical plant or related industrial setting, including operating typical trade equipment, hand and power tools and standard office equipment, and to drive a motor vehicle to various work sites; stamina to stand, walk and climb and to work in confined or awkward spaces for an extended period of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone.
