Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review journal entries, supporting schedules, and account reconciliations.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
  • Analyze general ledger activity and research unusual balances and discrepancies.
  • Prepare financial reports and explain variances between actual results, budgets, forecasts, and prior periods.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other accounts.
  • Assist with fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure tracking.
  • Collaborate with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other departments to resolve issues.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for audits.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and documentation supporting transactions.
  • Follow established accounting policies, approval procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting and data accuracy.
  • Complete special analyses and other accounting-related assignments.

Job Purpose

The Accounting Analyst supports accurate financial reporting, account reconciliations, and analysis of business results. This role assists with month-end close, investigates accounting discrepancies, and prepares reports that help management understand financial performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review journal entries, supporting schedules, and account reconciliations.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
  • Analyze general ledger activity and research unusual balances, transactions, and discrepancies.
  • Prepare financial reports and explain variances between actual results, budgets, forecasts, and prior periods.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash, prepaid expense, accruals and other assigned accounts.
  • Assist with fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure tracking.
  • Review accounting data for accuracy, completeness, and proper classification.
  • Collaborate with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other departments to resolve accounting issues.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and documentation supporting transactions and account balances.
  • Follow established accounting policies, approval procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, accounting processes, and data accuracy.
  • Complete special analyses and other accounting-related assignments as needed.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Any and all other duties assigned by management.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Three to five years of experience in accounting, financial analysis or a related accounting role.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables and lookup functions.
  • Ability to learn new ERP systems quickly and adapt to evolving company needs.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial and employee information appropriately.
