Hawai`i State Judiciary Careers is seeking an Accountant V to supervise a major accounting program and contribute to the design or revision of critical aspects of the Judiciary's accounting system in Honolulu, Oahu.
The role involves supervising the preparation of control records and financial statements for all Judiciary funds, requiring a professional accounting or auditing background, a bachelor's degree, and supervisory potential.

Performs difficult and responsible accounting work involving supervision of a major accounting program, design and revision of a major aspect of the Judiciary's accounting system, or supervision and participation in the preparation of control records and financial statements for all the Judiciary funds.
Education Requirement: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor's degree, and a minimum of twelve (12) semester hours in accounting and/or auditing.
Accounting Experience: Three and one-half (3-1/2) years of professional accounting or auditing experience, which may have included the teaching of accounting at the university level.
Non-Qualifying Experience: Experience in such positions as the following will not be accepted as qualifying professional experience:
Supervisory Aptitude: Applicants must possess supervisory aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
Substitutions of Experience for Education: The following types of experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
