Job Summary
The Accountant (Transmission Revenues) performs accounting activities related to data collection, analysis, billing, and recording of billed revenue for transmission services across operating companies. Ensures accurate performance of activities related to previous year's formula rate true-ups and current year transmission revenue billings. Communicates with providers, users of transmission settlements, and regulatory accounting matters.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepares, analyzes, and reconciles monthly revenue data from internal and external sources.
- Maintains spreadsheets for network and billing loads, tracking historical data and changes.
- Creates and manages revenue spreadsheets for joint zone revenue distribution and recording within regional transmission organizations like MISO and SPP.
- Administers accounting and billing processes adhering to legacy transmission revenue agreements.
- Maintains spreadsheets for previous year's formula rate true-ups, calculating interest, and collaborating with Finance and Regulatory teams for current billings.
- Communicates with stakeholders within MISO, SPP, transmission partners, customers, and auditors.
- Participates in interdepartmental communication to resolve settlements, regulatory, and ratemaking issues.
- Supports financial reporting, including SEC filings (10-Q/10-K) and FERC forms.
- Assists with special projects and ad-hoc requests as needed.
Requirements
Minimum Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- Associate level: No minimum experience required.
- Intermediate level: Minimum two years’ accounting experience; utility industry experience preferred.
Other Requirements
- Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and auditing.
- Knowledge of FERC, FASB, GAAP, and SEC standards.
- Problem-solving skills from start to finish.
- Ability to analyze data anomalies and variations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship provided.
