CARB is seeking an Accountant Trainee (Specialist) under the Accounting Administrator I to perform professional accounting work in the CCPU, review daily reports, post cash receipts, and prepare vouchers and remittance forms.

The position is full-time with a hybrid work location in Sacramento, CA 95814 and requires relocation before starting. Salary ranges from $4,187 to $4,992 per month, with standard benefits including 401(k), health, dental, life insurance, PTO and vision.

Job Overview

Under the general supervision of the Accounting Administrator I (S) of the Accounting Branch, Cashiering, Collections and Payroll Unit (CCPU), the Accountant Trainee (Specialist) (AT) will perform professional accounting work in the CCPU. The Accounting Trainee will review and analyze the daily Report of Collections and list the day’s cash receipts including cash, checks, wire transfers. Also, the Accountant Trainee will deposit checks received using Cash Pro. All cash receipts will be posted to FI$Cal and the internal database payment portal updated with cash receipt information. Other duties performed are mail sorting, payroll distribution, preparing vouchers for salary advances and buybacks, preparing remittance forms, and preparing and distributing reports. Working Conditions

The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in‑person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense, as indicated on their duty statement. Position located in a high‑rise building. Requires being in a stationary position, consistent with office work, for extended periods. Standard office environment (for example, artificial lighting, controlled temperature, etc.). Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.
