Job summary

New Mexico State University in Las Cruces seeks an Accountant Senior to manage compliance monitoring, sponsor awards, and monthly and year-end financial analysis. This full-time role supports the Administration and Finance division and reports to the Restricted Accounting department.

Requires an Associate's Degree with 4 years or a Bachelor's with 2 years, with preferred accounting background and at least 3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree + 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in accountancy or a Bachelor's with at least 15 ACCT credits.
  • Three years of relevant professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Compliance monitoring, expenditure review, administration of sponsored awards collections and monthly/fiscal year end receivable analysis.
  • Ensures letter of credit (LOC) federal agency electronic payment systems for our awards are in balance with Banner budgets.
  • Ensures timely and accurate submission of quarterly financial reports.
  • Ensures timely submission of FFATA Sub award Reporting System for subcontracts.
  • Responsible for timely financial sponsored award closeout and property closeouts.
  • Administers month end cost share close process.
  • Responsible for restricted awards document management/destruction of expired awards per State of New Mexico guidelines.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: Associate's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 2 years of relevant experience.

  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in accountancy or bachelor's degree with successful completion of at least 15 credit hours of Accounting (ACCT) course work.;
  • Preferred Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience directly related to the job duties and responsibilities as outlined.
