Job summary

IGS Energy, serving the SCANA gas business, seeks an experienced accounting professional in Dublin, OH to support financial reporting and internal controls. You will prepare GL entries, reconcile accounts, and assist with month-end through year-end closes, ensuring accurate GAAP-compliant reporting.

The role requires collaboration across segments, budgeting input, and facilitation of audits, with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA (or working toward) preferred but not required.
• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Experience in utility accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain general ledger entries including monthly revenue and cost of gas estimates.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts with supporting documentation.
• Review and timely submit payments for monthly supplier commodity invoices and pipeline invoices; resolve billing issues.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Analyze variances and provide explanations to management.

Job Summary:This position will support the accounting and financial operations of our growing IGS South (SCANA) gas business. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting and insight across the business. This role will also contribute to the design and effectiveness of appropriate internal control policies and procedures and ongoing compliance.Key Responsibilities:Financial Reporting & AuditPrepare and maintain general ledger entries, to include the monthly revenue and cost of gas estimatesPrepare monthly account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts, ensuring all balances are supported by appropriate documentation.Responsible for review and timely submission of payment for monthly supplier commodity invoices and monthly third-party pipeline invoices, including billing issue research and resolutionSupport month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processesEnsure accuracy and timeliness of financial statements in line with GAAPAnalyze variances and provide explanations to managementSupport external audits by preparing schedules and documentationAccounts & TransactionsProcess journal entries as directed by the Accounting Manager and monthly reconciliations, as assigned, including but not limited to:Sales/Cost of SalesAccounts ReceivableAccrued PurchasesAccounts PayableBank ReconciliationsOperating ExpensesAnalysis & Stakeholder SupportProvide support for budgeting/forecasting processes and corporate tax data requestsCollaborate with partners across different business segmentsIdentify opportunities for process improvements and automationPrepare reports for regulatory reportingQualifications:Education & CertificationBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA (or working toward) preferred, but not requiredExperience3+ years of accounting experienceUtility accounting experience is a plusTechnical SkillsAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills requiredProficient in Microsoft Word and OutlookProficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Great Plains) and AI tools is a plusSoft SkillsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently without close supervision and collectively with team members, internal and external business partners.Thrives in fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
