Accountant for Nonprofit Organizations – Part‑time, 35‑hour week, hybrid work in Phoenix, Tucson, Albuquerque, Flagstaff, and Maricopa County.
About the Role
As an accountant at Your Part‑Time Controller (YPTC), you will provide outsourced accounting services to nonprofit organizations across Arizona and New Mexico. You will work both virtually and on‑site with clients, their staff, board members, and finance committees, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The position offers the potential to progress toward a controller level and includes a competitive compensation package plus standard benefits for full‑time, 35‑hour employees.
Responsibilities
- Weekly and monthly processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
- Bank account and balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparation of monthly financial statements and related analysis
- Grant tracking and monitoring
- Cash flow projections and monitoring
- Preparation for outside audits
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- Minimum 3 years of related experience in public accounting and/or industry; 5+ years preferred
- Outstanding communication skills and positive attitude
- Knowledge of, or interest in learning, multiple accounting software packages; QuickBooks experience is a plus
- Intermediate‑level Excel skills
- Willingness to travel to client offices as needed when safe
- Nonprofit experience preferred, but not required
- Part‑time employees are expected to work during normal business hours to best serve clients
