Job summary

NOVA® Home Loans in Tucson, AZ is seeking an Accountant to perform a range of professional accounting duties, ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely reporting to support sound financial decision-making. This is a fully on-site position at our corporate office in Tucson.

Requirements include a bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, CPA progress preferred, and at least two years of accounting experience; mortgage industry experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration or related field is required.
  • CPA or progress toward certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile bank accounts daily and promptly report variances.
  • Reconcile credit line asset and liability accounts monthly.
  • Perform a variety of General Ledger reconciliations (payroll, prepaids, accruals, impounds, trust, fixed assets).
  • Review and post daily transactions to the General Ledger and sub-ledgers.
  • Review Accounts Payable entries and GL postings for accuracy.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Conduct financial analyses focusing on balance sheet accounts and P&L variances.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and assist with special projects.
  • Assist the Controller and Senior Accountant with audits and examinations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and applicable regulations.
  • Perform accounting tasks related to subsidiaries, intercompany activity, taxes.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Assist with system implementations, upgrades, and testing.
  • Research and resolve complex accounting issues.
  • Provide accounting guidance to other departments.
