Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking an Accountant III to join our finance team. This hybrid role involves monthly close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and collaboration with operations to deliver accurate financial results from Newark, DE and adjacent sites.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's in Accounting, at least five years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• Minimum of five years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP required.
• Experience in utility accounting preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepares monthly financial statements, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Coordinates with stakeholders for monthly close and forecasts.
• Documents account reconciliations and variance analyses.
• Leads internal and external audits for designated business unit.
• Responds to operations questions on financial matters and resolves issues.
• Identifies process improvement opportunities and supports system upgrades.
