Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an Accountant II to provide essential accounting support for AEP companies, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and contributing to the general ledger close.

This on-site role in Canton, OH offers training, mentorship, tuition assistance, and opportunities for advancement into higher-profile accounting or FP&A positions; a Bachelor’s in Accounting (or Business with Accounting concentration) and at least 2

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business with Accounting concentration.
Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
CPA or progress toward certification preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word; PeopleSoft experience a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform general ledger accounting functions including journal entry development and review.
Review general ledger accounts and perform reconciliations for high-risk accounts.
Participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date variance analyses.
Support internal and external auditors with data requests and reports.
Assist in GAAP financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A preparation.
Support regulatory filings and related analyses.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with accounting partners.
