Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA or MBA desired, not required.
• Minimum 2-3 years of related experience.
• Advanced working knowledge with Excel.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of accounting software programming desired.
• Ability to learn new responsibilities, to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Account Reconciliations and Analysis: Own assigned balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations. Analyze account activity, research reconciling items, and coordinate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies.
• Journal Entries and Month-End Close Support: Prepare, review, and post routine journal entries and adjustments. Ensure proper documentation and timely month-end close.
• Variance Analysis and Financial Review: Perform account-level variance analysis and investigate discrepancies.
• General Ledger Maintenance and Governance: Support ledger governance, COA maintenance, and documentation across departments.
• Compliance and Internal Controls: Follow established procedures and reinforce internal controls for accurate reporting.
• Audit and External Reporting Support: Assist with audits, schedules, and external reporting as needed.
• NCAA procedures support: Compile documentation and respond to requests for NCAA procedures.
• Customer Service and Cross-Functional Support: Respond to requests from University departments and partner with stakeholders.
• Additional Responsibilities: Perform other accounting, analysis, and special projects as assigned.
