Job summary

Virgin-Islands-Water- is seeking an Accountant II to perform intermediate-level accounting work, analyze transactions, and maintain records. You will manage fixed assets, perform reconciliations, and prepare financial statements for management and auditors.

The role requires a Bachelor's in accounting or finance and a minimum of three years of professional accounting experience. Proficiency with Excel and accounting systems is essential.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and records all company owned or leased equipment, buildings and other property
• Records description, value, location and other pertinent information
• Conducts periodic inventories to keep records up-to-date and to ensure that equipment is properly maintained
• Prepares monthly financial statements and schedules; performs selective auditing of accounting records and transactions
• Performs monthly bank reconciliations of major general ledger accounts
• Prepares accounting schedules for management and external auditor's use
• Performs reconciliation of periodic vendor statements and maintains subsidiary ledger
• Creates and monitors a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recordation of fixed assets
• Tracks the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and closes out those accounts once the projects have been completed
• Reconciles the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary level account in the general ledger
• Reviews and updates the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation
• Calculates depreciation of all fixed assets, and conducts periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets
• Prepares audit schedules relating to fixed assets and assists the auditors in their inquiries
• Conducts analysis related to fixed assets as requested by management
• Performs other duties as assigned
