This position suits an accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of processes, developing subject matter expertise, and continuously improving efficiency and effectiveness. The Accountant II will partner closely with other Finance and Accounting groups to support ad-hoc requests and internal and external audit needs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and motivated to produce accurate, high-quality work while proactively seeking better ways to execute and document accounting processes.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and record journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including entries related to fixed asset additions and retirements, depreciation, amortization, construction in progress, project closeouts, and timeshare inventory transactions.
  • Evaluate and clearly explain the impact of journal entries on the financial statements to ensure accurate and transparent reporting.
  • Reconcile and analyze fixed asset, construction in progress, inventory, accumulated depreciation, and other assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and roll forwards and reconcile project-level transactions to the general ledger for a portfolio that may include 100150 projects at any one time.
  • Research and resolve complex accounting discrepancies related to fixed assets, construction, and inventory in a timely manner to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare correcting and cleanup entries as needed to minimize financial risk and safeguard company assets.
  • Analyze business transactions and recommend appropriate accounting treatment using strong financial acumen and knowledge of GAAP.
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset, inventory, and project accounting records to support ongoing financial reporting and operational needs.
  • Support financial reporting, management requests, audits, and other project-related requirements as business needs evolve.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, strengthen, or automate manual accounting processes to reduce manual workload and improve sustainability.
  • Participate in process-improvement initiatives and collaborate with team members to implement more efficient accounting practices.
  • Develop, maintain, and update clear, accurate, and current process documentation for key accounting activities.
  • Partner with other Finance and Accounting groups to support ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and internal and external audit requests.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and projects, working both independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, project subledger activity, and journal entries between projects and the general ledger.
  • Hands-on experience with journal entries, month-end close processes, and financial reporting.
  • Experience working with fixed assets, project accounting, capital expenditures, or construction accounting (preferred but not strictly required).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel at an intermediate to advanced level, including functions such as SUMIF, VLOOKUP, and PivotTables.
  • Proficiency with other Microsoft Office Suite tools.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Blackline, or similar financial systems (experience with these specific tools is a plus).
  • Comfort working in an environment that handles a high volume of projects simultaneously, such as 100150 projects at any given time.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues and follow them through to resolution.
  • Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to accuracy in all work products.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and approach new challenges with innovative methods.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and dynamic environment.
  • Comfort evaluating business transactions and applying appropriate accounting treatment in line with GAAP.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with fixed assets, project accounting, capital expenditures, or construction accounting is preferred but not required.
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Blackline, or similar enterprise financial systems, is a plus.
  • Timeshare or hospitality industry experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to ask, Is there a better way to do this? when reviewing existing processes.
  • Experience participating in process improvement initiatives, including standardization, automation, and documentation enhancements.
  • Ability to build confidence, trust, and respect with colleagues across Finance and Accounting.
  • Ability to foster strong working relationships and encourage success within a collaborative team environment.
