Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan in Safford, AZ seeks an accounting professional to support the month-end close, analyze financial and operational data, and communicate results to site finance personnel.

The position requires relevant accounting education and several years of experience; experience with SAP or OneStream is a plus. The company offers competitive benefits and a base salary in the stated range.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 6 years accounting/finance experience, or
• an Associate's degree with 4 years accounting experience, or
• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years accounting experience, or
• Master’s degree in accounting/finance related area.

Responsibilities

• Complete duties for the accounting close process, including journal entries and collaboration with site finance groups.
• Analyze financial and operational data and communicate results to management and site finance personnel.
• Perform analysis and reconciliation through system queries and investigate reconciling items.
• Review month-end close processes and propose efficiency improvements.
• Undertake other accounting and special projects as assigned.
• Perform other duties as required.

In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States. The operation’s commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. Located in southeastern Arizona, close to more than 4 million acres of national forest, employees and their families can connect with the great outdoors while fishing, rafting, hiking and more. Several educational institutions also are nearby, including a Northern Arizona University satellite campus, Eastern Arizona College, and the Gila Institute for Technology.

What You Will Do

• Complete assigned duties as part of the accounting close process. Apply knowledge of accounting policies and procedures to tasks which include recording journal entries, collaborating with site finance groups and research and analysis among other duties.
• Analyze financial and operational data and communicate results timely and effectively to management and site finance personnel.
• Perform analysis and reconciliation through system queries, research, investigation of reconciling items and resolution.
• Review processes for improvements as changes occur or new requirements are added to the month-end close process. Use knowledge gained in making recommendations that are practical and which gain efficiencies.
• Perform other accounting and special projects as assigned.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• High School diploma or GED and six (6) years professional experience in accounting, including two (2) years in prolong intellectual instruction (certifications, instructed training, OR on the job training, etc..) in Accounting or Finance; OR
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area and four (4) years professional experience in accounting; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area and two (2) years of accounting experience; OR
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related area

Preferred Qualifications

• Expereince in Mining or Similar industires
• Experience with SAP or OneStream

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$65,000-$90,000.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
