Fairmont State University seeks an Accountant II to support financial operations with a focus on fixed assets and capital projects. You will identify, document, record, reconcile, and dispose of long-term assets, while maintaining subledgers and ensuring alignment with the general ledger.
Additionally, you will post journal entries, assist with month-end and year-end close processes, and gather audit documentation.
The Accountant II supports the financial operations of FairmontState University by performing various accounting, budget or audittasks related to capital projects and fixed assets Fixed Assets – Responsible for fixed asset process including butnot limited to identifying, documenting, recording, reconciling,monitoring,and disposing of long-term physical assets, such asbuildings, vehicles, equipment, and software Maintain the fixed assets subledger and complete postings relatedto gain or loss on disposal of fixed assets Collaborate with Finance areas to ensure timely and accuratereporting of fixed assets and ensure the fixed asset subledgerreconciles with the general ledger Collaborate with the campus community to ensure all assets arephysically tagged and any variances identified through the periodicasset tag inspections are identified and addressed Capital/Campus Projects – Responsible for capital/campus projectprocess including but not limited to setup and closeout of project,documenting, recording, reconciling, and monitoring the financialperformance of long-term projects like infrastructure,construction, and capital improvements including grant fundedprojects Maintain capital project funds and complete postings related toConstruction in Process Collaborate with Finance area, project managers, facilities andoperation teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting ofcapital/campus projects and ensure variances are identified andaddressed Post and process journal entries and adjustments Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, includinggathering audit documentation and completing audit workpapers Maintain compliance with institutional policies, fund accountingguidelines, and standard regulatory frameworks. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administrationor a related business field (or equivalent combination of educationand experience).
