Job summary

Specialty1 Partners is seeking an Accountant II to support multi-entity healthcare accounting operations. You will handle journal entries, reconciliations, monthly close, and financial analysis across practices, ensuring GAAP compliance and data integrity.

Based in Houston, TX, this role requires 2–5 years of accounting experience in multi-location environments, strong Excel skills, and effective communication to collaborate with operations and billing teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience; healthcare or multi-entity environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or other ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
  • Experience working in a multi-entity or high-volume accounting environment preferred.
  • Thorough review of all work before submission, with minimal errors.
  • Maintain GAAP-compliant financial records across multiple dental practice entities.
  • Ensure all journal entries, reconciliations, and reports are error-free and delivered on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for multiple dental practices/entities consistently meeting established deadlines.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, amortizations, and intercompany transactions.
  • Perform balance sheet and bank account reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items on a timely basis.
  • Review and analyze monthly P&L results, researching significant fluctuations and ensuring transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Support general ledger maintenance and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and internal reports.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances with general ledger entries.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to collect data and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Assist in developing and improving accounting processes, internal controls, and efficiencies.
  • Maintain organized and complete documentation supporting all accounting entries and reconciliations.
  • Perform other accounting and financial reporting duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Support external audits by preparing requested schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Review financial transactions for accuracy, proper account coding, department allocations, and supporting documentation.

Position Base Pay Range: $70,000 USD - $80,000 USD

Specialty1 Partners is the direct employer of non-clinical employees only. For clinical employees, the applicable practice entity listed above in the job posting is the employer. Specialty1 Partners generates job postings and offer letters to assist with human resources and payroll support provided to the applicable practice. Clinical employees include dental assistants and staff assisting with actual direct treatment of patients. Non-clinical employees include the office manager, front desk staff, marketing staff, and any other staff providing administrative duties.
