Job summary

AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. is seeking an Accountant II in Florida to manage general ledger tasks, reinsurance accounting, and compliance. The role supports month-end close, prepares journal entries, reconciliations, and audit requests, while contributing to close calendars and statutory reporting.

Ideal candidates hold a Business degree with accounting/finance focus, 2–4 years of experience, and strong Excel skills. Oracle experience and insurance industry knowledge are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business with a major in Accounting or Finance.
• 2-4 years of experience in accounting or finance.
• Excellent PC skills, with a strong background in Microsoft Excel.
• A quick learner, with flexibility and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
• Experience in Oracle, Property/Casualty insurance industry, insurance accounting, or IFRS accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create recurring journal entries based on standard monthly support as well as be point person for any ad-hoc entries
• Assist in the preparation of month end reports to substantiate and document account balances
• Prepare reinsurance billings, process resulting reinsurance journal entries and complete reinsurance tables and schedules
• Prepare account reconciliations and investigate unusual items
• Generate GL data requests
• Assist in the timely preparation of the statutory financial statement and state compliance filings
• Assist with gathering information for internal and external audit requests
• Work closely with team members to coordinate monthly and quarterly close processes
• Ad-hoc projects as requested
