Responsibilities

  • Audits and processes purchase, cash receipt, and disbursement documents in accordance with disbursing rules and regulations.
  • Monitors status and use of short-term operational cash advances and advises management of status.
  • Maintains student billing system accounting function and creates and corrects transcode errors.

Department: Office of Contracts &Grants Salary: $49,400 - $74,300 Annual Salary

The department is hiring either an Accountant I, II or a Sr.Accountant.

Accountant I:

Performs professional accounting work involving the recording,analysis and reporting of financial data in accordance withgenerally accepted accounting principles and federal, state,university and NACUBO guidelines.

  • Assembles data from books of original entry and central controlrecords.
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations, biweekly cashtransfers, and other financial statements and reports pertaining todepartmental or university activities.
  • Audits and processes purchase, cash receipt, and disbursementdocuments in accordance with disbursing rules andregulations.
  • Monitors status and use of short-term operational cash advancesand advises management of status.
  • May maintain student billing system accounting function andcreate and correct transcode errors. Reviews financial reports andclears "suspended transactions."
  • Reviews central accounts and fund groups for propriety ofentries and investigates overdrafts.
  • May prepare or assist in the preparation of year-end governmentreports and annual financial reports.
  • Performs other job-related duties as needed.

Accountant II:

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical andpractical aspects of an analytical, technical or professionaldiscipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professionaldiscipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtainedthrough a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a collegeor university or an equivalent in-depth specialized trainingprogram that is directly related to the type of work beingperformed.

Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-relatedexperience.

Sr. Accountant:

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practicalaspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; orthe basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline.Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal,directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university oran equivalent in-depth specialized training program that isdirectly related to the type of work being performed.

Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-relatedexperience.
