Job summary

Bitterroot Health, located in Hamilton, Montana, invites you to join our Fiscal Services team as Accountant I. You will provide timely financial reporting for hospital, clinic and departmental needs, recording and verifying transactions with a focus on data integrity.

Under supervision, you will support monthly Responsibility Reports, monitor fixed assets, and help prepare the annual budget, Medicare cost reports, and regulatory filings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or minimum of two years of progressive general accounting experience including financial statement preparation.
  • Licensures, Certifications, Registrations: None Required
  • Account analysis and reconciliation; interpersonal and communication skills; organizational/time management; ability to work independently; teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare hospital, clinic and departmental financial statements under supervision.
  • Record, verify and enter transactions to ensure information integrity.
  • Develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets for accounting and financial projects.
  • Assist with monthly Responsibility Reports and provide Controller support for the annual budget.
  • Support Medicare cost report, 990 tax return and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Provide audit support for internal and external requests.
  • Analyze financial data and trends; summarize information for management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Bitterroot Health is seeking candidates to fill an Accountant I position in our Fiscal Services department. The Accountant I provides accounting services that ensure timely and meaningful financial reporting. Focus on accounting information integrity by recording, verifying and entering transactions.

Under general supervision, assists in preparation of hospital, clinic and departmental financial statements; maintains records and follow-up documentation. Provides support to department directors regarding monthly Responsibility Reports. Monitors, maintains, and reports activity related to facility fixed assets. Develops and maintains Excel spreadsheets for various accounting and financial projects. Provides Controller support with preparing the annual budget; Medicare cost report, 990 tax return, and other regulatory reporting requirements. Provides audit support for internal and external audit requests. Analyzes and monitors financial data, trends, and indicators. Accumulates facts and information in specific accounting areas and summarizes in proper form. Analyzes and reconciles financial data for discrepancies and/or errors. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree or minimum of two years of progressive general accounting experience including financial statement preparation.
  • Licensures, Certifications, Registrations: None Required
  • Job Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Account analysis and reconciliation; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong organizational /time management skills; flexibility to adapt to a variety of work assignments; the ability to manage stressful situations, and work independently; support participation in team oriented projects.

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week
