Precision Castparts Corp. is seeking an Accountant in the South Gate area to perform month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and SOX controls support. You will collaborate with finance staff, ensure compliance with GAAP, and help maintain asset and cash flow records.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance/Business, ERP/Excel proficiency, and about one year of relevant experience. Manufacturing familiarity is preferred.

Wyman-Gordon is a worldwide supplier to the aerospace and industrial gas turbine markets. Located in South Gate, Dickson Testing Company, Inc. is a full-service destructive testing laboratory serving aerospace and metallic producers worldwide. Our laboratories serve our customers with metallurgical, mechanical, corrosion, and chemical testing services. In support of these services our facility provides complete specimen fabrication, cut off services and heat treat capability .

Position Summary:

The Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting assignments under general direction from the Controller. The incumbent will plan and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation or modification of standard accounting techniques, procedures and practices. The successful candidate devises new approaches to most problems, seeking technical guidance on unusually complex problems. This position will coordinate accounting activities for assigned projects and provide guidance to lower level accounting personnel.

  • Assist with all items of the month end closing process. The process must be completed timely and at a high level of accuracy.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Prepare monthly closing journal entries and adjustments to financial records; organize, analyze and complete month end financial statements.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, reconcile general ledger accounts to sub ledgers and research any discrepancies.
  • Prepare account reconciliations in Arc.
  • Assist in preparation of financial quarterly review (FQR) package
  • Prepare monthly revenue recognition and shipment to sales to AR reconciliations.
  • Adhere to all SOX requirements to ensure full SOX compliance.
  • Assist in Sarbanes Oxley compliance activities. Learn SOX Corporate requirements and maintain records to comply with said requirements.
  • Ensure proper internal SOX testing is completed accurately and timely.
  • Perform all fixed asset accounting functions. Including CIP management and budget to actual analysis, prepare fixed asset schedules, depreciation reports, annual audit schedules, and year end reports.
  • Maintain construction in progress detail with supporting documentation and work with management team to submit capital requests.
  • Complete special projects including property tax reporting, fixed assets inventory, internal, division and corporate requests.
  • Forecast and report cash flow daily or weekly.
  • Works with Controller to manage the preparation of budgets, review budget proposals, and prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Complete various reporting requests as needed.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with team members, coworkers, production staff and management.
  • Provide support to Finance clerical staff and assist in resolving issues that arise in these areas with minimal supervision.
  • Review and improve daily processes and tasks to expedite and improve workflow.
  • Create and maintain adequate and appropriate procedural documentation.
  • Perform job functions with minimal supervision.
  • Complete tasks timely and at a high level of accuracy.
  • Other duties and projects may be assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, or Finance, or Business is required.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is required.
  • Extensive experience with ERP systems and Excel is required.
  • Accounting experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is highly preferred.
  • SOX experience is highly preferred.
  • CPA and/or CMA designation is highly preferred.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing / processing environment preferred.
  • Experience with Hyperion preferred.
  • Sarbanes-Oxley knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with Great Plains preferred.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $65000 to $72000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
